Payment, Insurance, and Getting Started
Back in Action Chiropractic accepts most major insurance plans and bills your insurer directly. Not sure whether your plan covers chiropractic care? Call us before you book and we will check your benefits. No guessing, no surprises at checkout.
How Insurance Works Here
We bill your insurance directly — you do not need to pay upfront and file for reimbursement yourself. When you call to book your appointment, our team can verify your chiropractic benefits before your first visit so you know what to expect. If there is a copay, deductible, or coverage limit that applies to your plan, we will walk you through it in plain language before treatment begins.
To confirm your coverage, have your insurance card ready when you call. When you come in for your appointment, bring your photo ID and your insurance card. That is all we need to get you started.
Insurance Plans We Work With
We are in-network with a broad range of insurance providers. Plans we commonly work with include:
Medicare and Medicaid
Dr. McConnell accepts Medicare-approved amounts as payment in full. Medicaid patients are also welcome. Call to confirm your specific plan.
Providence Health Plan
Back in Action is listed in the Providence Health Plan provider directory for Olympia. Bring your Providence card to your first visit.
Military and Veteran Plans
We are a credentialed provider in the EmpowerChiro veteran care network and accept many plans common to military families in the Thurston County area. Call to confirm your specific coverage.

$95 New Patient Special
Not ready to run insurance yet, or just want to see if chiropractic care is right for you first? Our New Patient Special is available to anyone, with or without insurance, and covers everything you need for a complete first visit.
What the $95 Covers
The New Patient Special is a flat $95, with no hidden fees and no obligation to continue care. It includes everything needed to properly assess your situation and begin treatment if appropriate:
Full Consultation
Dr. McConnell sits down with you before anything else. He listens to your symptoms, reviews your health history, and explains what he sees and what he plans to do — in plain language, before he does it.
Spinal X-Rays
If X-rays are needed to assess your spine or injury, they are included in the $95. You will not be billed separately for imaging taken at your first visit.
Complete Examination
A thorough physical examination of your spine, posture, and areas of concern. Dr. McConnell uses findings from the exam alongside your X-rays and consultation to build a clear picture of what is going on.
Your First Adjustment
If treatment is appropriate for your situation, your first chiropractic adjustment is included. If chiropractic care is not the right fit for what you are dealing with, Dr. McConnell will tell you that instead.
The $95 New Patient Special is available to anyone — with or without insurance — and requires no commitment to a care plan.
Flexible Payment With CareCredit
For patients who prefer to spread the cost of care over time, Back in Action accepts CareCredit — a healthcare financing card that lets you pay for treatment in manageable monthly installments. CareCredit can be used for any visit, not just the initial appointment, and is a useful option for longer care plans or patients with high deductibles.
You can apply for CareCredit before your visit at carecredit.com or ask about it when you call the office. Approval is quick and the card can be used immediately once approved.
Apply Before You Come In
Visit carecredit.com to apply online. Approval is typically quick and your card can be used at Back in Action as soon as it is activated.
Use It for Any Visit
CareCredit is not limited to your first appointment. It can be applied to any visit, making it a practical option for ongoing or maintenance care.
Good for High Deductibles
Even with insurance, a high deductible can mean significant out-of-pocket costs early in the year. CareCredit lets you spread those costs rather than pay them all at once.
What to Bring to Your First Visit
Getting checked in is straightforward. Bring the following and we will handle the rest:
Photo ID
A valid government-issued photo ID — driver’s license, state ID, or passport.
Insurance Card(s)
Bring any insurance cards that may apply, including primary and secondary coverage. If you have multiple plans, bring them all and we will sort out what applies.
Do you bill insurance directly?
Yes. We handle billing with your insurer directly. You do not need to pay upfront and seek reimbursement yourself. Any applicable copay or deductible portion will be collected at the time of your visit.
How do I know if my insurance covers chiropractic?
Call us at (360) 923-5555 with your insurance card handy. We will contact your insurer, verify your chiropractic benefits, and let you know what is covered, what your copay is, and whether any referral or authorisation is required — before you come in.
What if my insurance does not cover chiropractic?
You can still be seen. The $95 New Patient Special is available to anyone regardless of insurance status. For ongoing care, CareCredit is available as a financing option. We do not require insurance to book an appointment.
Do you accept Medicare?
Yes. Dr. McConnell accepts Medicare-approved amounts as payment in full for covered services. Medicare covers chiropractic manipulation for certain conditions — call us to discuss whether your situation qualifies.
Can I use the New Patient Special even if I have insurance?
Yes. Some patients prefer to use the New Patient Special for their first visit rather than running insurance, particularly if they have a high deductible or want to assess care before involving their insurer. Talk to our team when you book and we will help you decide which approach makes sense for your situation.
What does CareCredit cover?
CareCredit can be used for any chiropractic visit at Back in Action — including the New Patient Special, ongoing adjustments, and spinal decompression sessions. It is a general healthcare financing card, not a chiropractic-specific product, and can also be used at other healthcare providers who accept it.
Do I need a referral to see Dr. McConnell?
In most cases, no. Washington State allows patients to see a chiropractor directly without a primary care referral. However, some insurance plans require a referral for coverage purposes. We will confirm this when we verify your benefits.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept most major insurance plans, Medicare, Medicaid, CareCredit, and standard payment methods including credit and debit cards. Call the office if you have a specific question about payment before your visit.
